The song, Revolution was correctly named as right from the beginning of the song it feel like a revolution is going to take place as Raury chants, “Lord Save This Burning Earth!” all while having a feel that reminds me of the “Devil Came Down To Georgia” slowed down. But as many have seen, even growing up in the same neighborhood will not mean you all have the same paths. In the song, Raury relives about growing up in Woodcrest Manor all while speaking on friendships that were great, but may not have ended as wanted. With mellow echoing sounds of the guitar playing the background, panned drumkicks and minor electro synth production, makes for a calming track to reflect to. If you need that song to see how far you have come, or just want to take flash back to the past, this is the song for you. Most times, I don’t try to make previously released singles a favorite to listen to, but Woodcrest Manor II was dropped less than 24 hours prior to the album released. This is probably the one song that Raury uses a 808 baseline, which is only used for the hook. Starting off with an up tempo acoustic guitar playing, Raury comes in rapping, “Momma crying, can’t survive, she lost her mind, she stressin out, needs to pay payyy” from that point, Raury starts to go in on problems off all walks of life that lives in the hood all before going into the hook stating, “It Ain’t Nothing But Them Tears In The Trap” with Key! providing adlibs to the song. This song, this song! If a DJ in Atlanta isn’t playing this, I’m not fucking with you and makes me question your opinion on music. In the song, he speaks on loving a woman no matter what, even when broken up, he see that he doesn’t know anything else… like a machine that is programmed to only love her. Not to much to seem to copy T-Pain’s auto-tune like many other artists, but enough to understand he is a machine. What do I mean by that? On the song, Raury’s vocals are mixed to sound computerized. Their is nothing better than a song that is created with the concept being created off the title of the song. Preferably to sing the 2nd verse of the song and sing along on the 2nd hook.įirst and Foremost Shout Out to the Engineer on this track. Now if he does a remix to this song, this would be the best song to have Willow Smith featured on. But what makes this song amazing is the feel and dubbed harmonization that give this song that sing along feel that will have everyone reflecting on the world’s problems all while giving the solution as part of the hook says, “All We Need Is Love”. As it starts off it builds with a static electro synths all while fading out and into the acoustic guitar coming in, in which Raury beings to sing, “Don’t hate my brother, God is our friend / I’ve walked for miles and, I see no end… To the hate”.

But more than anything, ‘All We Need’ is if Andre 3000 decided to take the production of Janelle Monae’s Archandroid album, blended with Classic Rock/Folk and production from Kanye West’s Yeezus album (Head Blown!)Īll We Need is definitely the perfect song that helps you understand what to expect from the album. Not much bass, but more crisply mixed instruments that will make you love the clearness of Boss speakers, or headphones. With a lot of his songs feeling 70’s Rock inspired, this album is the perfect album to perform at an open arena festival, or a high acoustic venue as Carnegie Hall. If I had to describe Raury’s album best, if we had a Woodstock concert for today, Raury would definitely be a headliner.

Now, Raury’s ‘All We Need’ album is all you will need to relax your mind and reflect on the ways of the world and relationships with others as many songs speaks on situations in society, all while he opens up more about himself.

On the album, Raury features his single, “ Devil’s Whisper“, which is a play off of his very first single, “ God’s Whisper” that is on his debut mixtape Indigo Child and features his latest single, “Woodcrest Manor II”. Today Atlanta’s own, ARTist, Raury, makes his album debut with ‘ All We Need‘.
